Padel as a school sport. Inclusion in primary education classes

Abstract

Background: This article, which can be considered within the reviews and experiences, deals with the study of paddle tennis as a sport to be taught in the Primary Education stage due to its benefits on health and positive physiological effects in collective or character physical activity programs. Social. Paddle tennis is scientifically and academically recognized and its practice is the majority in Spain due to its great socializing power that places it among one of the seven most practiced sports and the fourth with the most federative licenses in our country. Objectives: Account for the interest that paddle tennis arouses in research (doctoral theses). Check if paddle tennis is practiced in schools and arouses interest among Primary Education students, as well as propose an intervention project. Material and methods: The study begins with a review of the doctoral theses defended (TESEO) so far whose contents are mostly far from education. It continues, contacting the Primary Education centers to check, through the opinions of the teachers and the observation of the classes, if the paddle is taught and practiced at that stage of teaching. It ends with the approach of a didactic intervention project that includes paddle tennis as a sport to practice in Primary Education. Results and conclusions: Paddle tennis is a sport that presents a specific technique, tactics and time structure, different from other racket sports. It is an important sports modality in our society, but it is not taught in schools. The didactic proposal included in this study has been presented in schools to facilitate its teaching.
